All Rights Belle&Boo
I'm back with news of my little curly haired boy. The card you can see above is from Belle&Boo. I've been offered it a while ago as a thank you from a friend. It's called "I Like your Hat". I treasured this little gift and pinned it in a corner of my studio. The little boy on the illustration inspired me the minute I held the card in my hands. I loved him so much I knew I was to make a doll like him one day, and the day has come. I decided to dress Yvon like this little boy on the illustration.
My Little Dandy Boy
I love how he turned out! His top hat is made of thick felt and it holds really well. Of course, it's been tailor made so that it doesn't fall off his head. I spent quite a lot of time on it, because I assembled all the parts by hand. The felt is so thick I didn't want to ruin it of course, but sewing by hand also allowed me to "sculpt" it exactly the way I wanted. The little strap of fabric by Sarah Jane I also sewed by hand to give it a little puffed effect. The outer edge on the brim is secured by a row of blanket stitch.
I also added a vest in Yvon's outfit which isn't part of Belle&Boo illustration. Let's say winter's still here in France, and I didn't want Yvon to catch a cold... This boy's vest is made of light blue velour. I like how the pearl buttons add a little sparkle on.
Yvon's duck toy
I didn't forget Yvon's toy. This little duck seems to be ready for the party! He's a real little dandy too!
